We just finished our Cultural Class Quilt. Everyone in the class had to make “quilt piece’’ on a square paper that represented their family culture. We could include anything that we wanted, such as drawings, words, photographs, or images. The goal of this was to learn more about people’s family culture and their immigrant past. After we shared them in class, Mrs. Brown collected them and put them up together outside of our classroom. We also were assigned to write just one paragraph that explains either our family’s immigrant past, our family culture, or an explanation that included why we put the things that we did on our quilt piece. Interestingly enough, almost everyone in our class has parents who are immigrants!
